What are the qualifications for obtaining a CDL?

As has been often discussed on this blog, though semi-trucks play an important role in our society and our economy, they pose significant dangers to other motorists. One way that these threats are lessened is by state and federal laws and regulations. These laws and regulations may limit the number of hours a trucker can drive in a given period, restrict what a trucker can haul, and/or impose inspection requirements on trucking companies. One of the easiest ways to ensure a truck driver can operate his or her vehicle in a safe manner is to require him or her to obtain a Commercial Driver's License, known as a CDL.

What is a lump sum and is it right for me?

In the workers' compensation context, a lump sum is a payment that you receive one time. It replaces your weekly workers' compensation benefit checks. There is a lot to consider when deciding whether or not to give up your weekly checks in favor of a lump sum, and a judge will try to determine if a lump sum payment is in your best interest. It may be helpful to consider whether you are able to return to your job, if you have ongoing medical issues from your injuries, your current income, and how accepting a lump sum will affect your ability to pay for future medical expenses related to your injuries.

Woman suffers serious injuries in pedestrian accident

Massachusetts residents should be able to go about their everyday lives without fear of harm. Unfortunately, as most of us are probably aware, this is not reality. Instead, people find themselves at risk of being harmed at some of their most vulnerable times. Walking, for instance, should be a relatively safe activity. Yet, when crossing a road, it only takes the blink of an eye for an errant driver to turn that routine walk into a living nightmare.

What can I do to help avoid a truck accident?

Semi-trucks are a common presence on Massachusetts roads. These vehicles and their drivers play a vital role in our economy by moving goods across the country. However, they also pose a threat to other motorists, as their massive size can cause devastating damage and injuries to those in other vehicles should an accident occur. In far too many cases, unsuspecting motorists are killed in these wrecks. While the onus is on truck drivers to ensure the safety of other motorists, there are certain steps you can take to better protect yourself when driving near a big rig.

We provide strong medical malpractice advocacy

Last week on the blog we discussed medication errors and just how common they can be in the hospital and pharmacy settings. Unfortunately, those who are subjected to a doctor mistake like a medication error are often left with a worsened medical condition. In some instances, the error can even be fatal. On top of the obvious physical harm that can be done, these victims might also suffer from excessive financial and emotional loss.
