Mother of two killed in car accident on the Mass pike

On Behalf of | May 29, 2013 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Holiday weekends usually bring more traffic onto the roads of Massachusetts and unfortunately this can bring a spike in accidents. Many of these car accidents are caused by drunk driving, excessive speeding, and distracted driving. One such accident recently occurred on the Massachusetts turnpike.

According to reports, a woman who was headed to New York to spend the weekend with her sister was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the off-ramp to Route 128 in Weston. According to reports, the woman had her two sons, ages 15 and 17 in the vehicle as well. Both of the teenagers were injured as a result of being pinned down in the vehicle after the crash. They are reported to be in fair condition but were in the hospital for observation.

The drivers of the other two vehicles that were involved in the accident were not injured. The cause of the accident is being investigated by the police and so far they do not believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Once police determine the cause of the crash, they may be able to conclude whether or not someone acted negligently.

If someone dies as a result of another’s negligence, their family members can pursue a claim to recover compensation for their tragic loss. Although no amount of money can ever compensate for the loss of a loved one, it can help to ease the economic suffering that a family may endure in this type of situation. They may be eligible to recover damages for pain and suffering, loss of future income, funeral and burial expenses, loss of companionship and loss of consortium.

Those who are injured due to someone else’s negligence may also be entitled to recover compensation for reimbursement of medical expenses, lost wages, and damages for pain and suffering. These claims have strict time limitations and must be presented as quickly as possible following an accident.
