One dead, four injured in fatal DUI car crash

Losing someone in a fatal traffic accident can be devastating for family members, and nothing can quantify what they have lost or replace it. Many questions arise after someone dies suddenly due to another person's fault, especially if the driver responsible for causing the car crash was driving under the influence of alcohol. Getting behind the wheel while intoxicated is a decision made by the driver that ends up endangering the lives of everyone on the road at the time.

A 47-year-old male driver made this decision and ended up killing a 20-year-old Massachusetts woman in a tragic crash. According to police officers, the driver was driving west when he ended up crossing the centerline and struck an eastbound vehicle head-on. The driver and passengers were all from Massachusetts.

The 20-year-old male driver of the vehicle that was hit, along with a 45-year-old female passenger sitting in the backseat, were airlifted to the hospital to receive medical attention for their injuries. The 20-year-old woman sitting in the front passenger's seat died of her injuries. Two children in the backseat were hospitalized but are reportedly in stable condition. The driver who caused the crash has been charged with negligent homicide and drunk driving.

Civil lawsuits, such as wrongful death or personal injury lawsuits, progress separately from criminal charges. Families of those who lose their lives in car accidents victims caused by drunk drivers or other negligent drivers may want to pursue a wrongful death claim against the driver responsible for wreaking havoc in their lives and hold them accountable for their actions. It may also be possible to recover financial compensation that could alleviate the financial burden associated with the fatal accident.
