On Behalf of | Jan 14, 2013 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Head-on car collisions can be catastrophic and deadly. Many head-on collisions are caused by drunk drivers. Recently, two drivers that were involved in a car accident in Worcester are fortunate to have escaped with their lives; however, they have both reportedly suffered serious injuries.

According to reports, a Jeep Cherokee collided head on with a Toyota Camry. The driver of the Cherokee apparently struck the Toyota head on when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the Toyota, causing the Jeep to flip over. Reportedly, both of the drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles. The 60-year-old driver of the Toyota suffered head and leg injuries and was reported to be in serious condition. The driver of the Cherokee also was listed in serious condition.

After the initial police investigation, the driver of the Cherokee was arrested and charged with a number of traffic violations and with DUI and DUI causing serious bodily injury. Tragically, this arrest was the third DUI arrest for the driver of the Cherokee.

The driver of the Camry may be able to recover monetary compensation for the injuries he has suffered as a result of this accident. He may be able file a claim based on negligence. In this type of action he may seek reimbursement for all medical treatment he has received as a result of the accident, in addition to future medical expenses. He may also seek compensation for lost wages and loss of future wages. Finally, he may seek compensation for pain and suffering caused by this horrific event.

As this accident appears to have been caused by a drunk driver, the victim may also be entitled to seek additional punitive damages against the driver. Due to the complexities of these claims, an experienced personal injury attorney can help in obtaining the best possible results.
