As the weather gets warmer and warmer, motorcycle drivers venture out on the roads of Massachusetts. These drivers are particularly vulnerable to suffering serious and even catastrophic injuries, should they be involved in a collision with a car or truck.
Recently, a 57 year old man from South Easton was involved in a horrific motorcycle accident when he collided with a car near Rayham Park, Massachusetts. The man was taken immediately to nearby Morton Hospital following the accident, but, unfortunately, he died from his injuries. The accident is currently being investigated by the authorities, and no citations have been issued yet. It is unclear at this time what caused the accident.
Motorcycle accidents can occur when the drivers of cars or trucks do not properly see motorcyclist on the road. Many times, when the driver of a car finally sees a motorcycle, it is too late for them to avoid impact. Accidents can also occur due to distracted driving, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and driving at excessive speeds. Even motorcycle drivers who take every possible safety precaution to avoid injury are highly vulnerable to injury if a crash occurs.
If someone dies in a motorcycle crash due to a negligent driver, their immediate family members may be able to recover compensation for their loss. While no amount of money can compensate for the loss of a life, it can help to ease the financial difficulties that may accompany someone’s untimely death. By filing a wrongful death action, the family members may be entitled to receive monetary damages for loss of companionship, loss of consortium and loss of future earnings. In addition to these damages, they may also recover compensation for pain and suffering and reimbursement of funeral and burial expenses.
