Readers of this blog know that car accidents can occur in any number of ways. A somewhat unusual accident occurred recently in Boston and left two people injured.
According to Massachusetts State Police, a 33-year-old man driving a Honda Insight lost control on a turn on the McHugh Overpass, causing his vehicle to fly through a fence and guardrail. The Honda then struck a Ford F150 pickup truck that was westbound on Soldiers Field Road. The flying fence and guardrail debris struck a third vehicle, a Volvo that was eastbound on Soldiers Field Road.
The driver of the errant Honda and the driver of the pickup truck were both injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Volvo and his passenger escaped without injury. Police are still investigating the accident, and no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
When someone is injured by a negligent driver they have a legal right to recover compensation from that driver and his or her insurance company. The injured victim must prove that the other driver was negligent, and that their negligence caused the accident and the resulting injuries. The victim can recover damages for lost wages, medical expenses and pain and suffering.
When it comes to filing a lawsuit, one can benefit from working with an attorney who practices in the area of personal injury. An experienced personal injury attorney can aggressively pursue a claim on a car accident victim's behalf and work to achieve a favorable outcome.
